Quin Monahan stepping down as athletics director

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design Director of Athletics Quin Monahan has announced he is stepping down from his position to accept a similar position at Belmont Abbey College, a NCAA Division II institution in Belmont, N.C.
Monahan's final day at SCAD will be July 1 and he will begin work at Belmont Abbey July 15.
Monahan, who has been at the university since June 2001, is completing his second year as the director of athletics. During the past year, the Bees amassed their best-ever season as SCAD's teams compiled a .638 winning percentage (156-88-3). Eight programs had teams compete at their respective national championship and three others had individuals compete at theirs.
SCAD received its second-ever NAIA team title when the Bees won the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship for a second consecutive season. SCAD also captured its sixth American National Riding Commission's Intercollegiate Equitation Championship in 2010. The Bees also won five individual national titles during the past year.
The Bees were also successful in the classroom as 15 teams maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average while the average grade point average was a 3.202.
Prior to Monahan becoming the athletics director in July 2008, he served five years as the associate director of athletics at SCAD. He also served as academic adviser for three months before becoming the coordinator of academic advising in September 2001.
Monahan earned a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from Bartlesville Wesleyan College (now Oklahoma Wesleyan University) in Bartlesville, Okla., and a master's degree in counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky.
Monahan and his wife, Beth, have two sons, Keegan (9) and Quin (6).
