Wild finishes earn split of doubleheader with Shawnee State

GARDEN CITY, Ga. – Wild finishes Sunday (March 7) at Chain Field propel Savannah College of Art and Design and Shawnee State University to a split of their baseball doubleheader.
Shawnee State scored four times in the seventh inning to win the opener 13-10 and snap the Bees’ six-game win streak. SCAD then scored 13 runs in the sixth inning of the nightcap to claim an 18-10 win over the Bears.
SCAD improved to 13-8 overall while Shawnee State fell to 7-5. SCAD returns to action Wednesday (March 10) when they host West Liberty University in a 4 p.m. contest at Historic Grayson Stadium.
The Bees sent 17 batters to the plate in the sixth as they collected 10 hits against four different pitchers.
Mike Hines and
Shane Yoder drove in three runs in the inning as they each had two hits in the outburst.
Sean Apuzzo (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Bees.
Shawnee State jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the opener, but needed a four-run seventh to earn the win in the opener.
