ST. PETERS, Mo. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women’s swimming team claimed their second consecutive NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championship Saturday (March 6) evening at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

The Bees, who outdistanced California Baptist University to win the 2009 title, did the same in 2010. SCAD, which entered the championship not ranked, finished the 20-event national meet with 540 points. Despite not winning a single event in the meet, the Bees used their depth for the second national title in program history. The Bees finished 68 points in front of California Baptist in 2010.

Mary Ashley Krogh and Liz Roberts had the top finishes for the Bees. Krogh finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.77) while Roberts did the same in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.40). Teammates Melanie Futscher also finished fourth (2:23.57) and Zenobia Duncan came in sixth place (2:24.90) in the breaststroke.

Nicole Dumont recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:44.13 while Jill Jeffries finished sixth with a time of 17:49.61. Heather Librizzi finished eighth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:212.97 while Kaycee Corso also placed eighth in the 100 freestyle (54.07).
